Miles 11 – 16 With Friends
With the heat index so high, I opted for a more comfortable environment to put a few miles in. It was 6 miles on the Dreadmill while watching the first part of Cool Hand Luke. This movie is a classic and one of my favorites. There is a scene where “Luke” finds himself pitted in a jail-yard boxing match against a MUCH larger and stronger opponent. Of course he gets knocked down….. several times. But the thing about “Luke” is that he doesn’t give up- with the odds stacked against him, he keeps getting back up. Even after it becomes evident to everybody, including his opponent, he doesn’t quit. This “never-give-up” attitude seemed like the perfect message to receive as I put in these few miles.
Wow….. 153 AWESOME people in the One Mile of Honor event as of now. Please remember that it lasts all month and invite all YOUR friends. Keep spreading the word.
Today, for miles 11-16, it was my privilege to run IN HONOR of some wonderful people.
11th mile Allen Bilbro
